DHTML front endposted on 26/11/2001Our product is essentially a type of “shopping cart” which allows users to select from c 10,000 products by clicking on the relevant button on the screen . The back end database has been written in SQL sequel server and the front end was written in basic . The project is to rewrite the front end in DHTML (with some JAVA) and do QA , debugging and testing to ensure the front end “talks” to the backend. A graphic designer has designed what the user interface will look like . From a functionality perspective it is essentially a list of 10 departments , each with 6 subdepartments each of which in turn has 7 aisles. Each “aisle” has a list of products through which the user can scroll and select the item they wish to add to their shopping basket. They can also add to the “favourites” database by right clicking on the mouse. A copy of wht the front end looks like is enclosed as a powerpoint slide Apart from the obvious fuctionality the following additional functionality id on this page (1) Favourites – This is a database with a permanent record off all items that the user “adds” to favourites. By clicking on “Favourites” athe relevant list of products appear on screen from where thae user can “add to basket”. (2) Weekly shop brings up last weeks shopping list. Again the user can select or deselect by clicking on the relevant product. (The layout of this section will be identical to the normal purchasing section) (3) Chef’s choice brings the user to a list of recipies. Again the functionality on this section will be such that the user can select or deselect products. In addition to the page shown in the powerpoint presentation there is also 2 or three more pages that need to be written . These include typical “checkout” page , “registration” page home pager etc We are no longer accepting applications for this project. |
