ASP project to improve www.shoptheweb.co.uk online store
posted on 22/6/2003We have two pieces of work required to improve the site at www.shoptheweb.co.uk
Firstly, we want someone to set up a system whereby the pages are updated from a simple database such as a spreadsheet or a csv text file. Using SQL server is a possibility but our site is fast using static pages and we don't want it slowed down. We are imagining a password protected ASP page that we can logon to in order to change product details, and this ASP page will then produce a set of static product pages.
Secondly, we want to improve/change the shopping cart. We have a WorldPay credit card payment account that we are not yet using so experience of making this work with ASP pages would be helpful. The shopping cart needs to be intelligent enough to know that different items have different shipping costs, and not to charge people double when purchasing two items at a time.

We prefer to use ASP rather than buying any other software or shopping cart system. The coding should be as simple as possible so that it can be easily adapted by someone else in the future after you have finished the assignment and moved on.
