mIRC Universal Language Translator
posted on 30/1/2004We require a mIRC script capable of monitoring chat in a channel and detecting the use of a foreign language (other than English). The script would then announce a translation automatically to the rest of the channel in English.
We're interested in Spanish, French, German and Polish. The latter isn't required but would be ideal.
It's assumed that knowledge of the languages themselves won't be necessary, as we feel the best way would be interfacing with an online translation service (but it's entirely up to you).
The critical requirement is speed, considering the complexity of initially identifying use of a foreign language and then actual translation.
