News Section - PHP, MySQL, XMLposted on 31/10/2006Hi, I am hoping that someone might be able to help. I believe the following technologies will be required to implement this project. PHP, XML, MySql We are looking to add a fully automated news section to an existing web site. The news is provided by an XML newsfeed which is updated on a reasonably frequent basis. At present an administrator checks the feed URL every few days and then updates the content of the news home page and then manually creates the relevant article page. Currently a pain! Perhaps the solution would work this way (Suggestions?) a. A daily cron job is scheduled that checks the XML and identifies any new articles b. The articles are all stored within a database, with all of the appropriate XML data (headline, date, id etc.) stored appropriately within the database. c. The news home page is created dynamically showing the most recent articles first. d. As a news item is clicked on from the news home page a content page is generated on the fly. Current XML Feed follows:- In addition to the abvove the following functionality is also required. e. The news items are archived, categories and fully searchable from all areas of the news subdomain f. an email to your friend option is present on all news article pages g A news admin tool is provided enabling a user to add/edit/delete news articles. h. News articles will also present relevant news link (based on category) I am looking for someone to provide a price to build, test and install all of the above. Please contact me if you have any queries. ABSOLUTELY NO AGENCIES PLEASE Lee We are no longer accepting applications for this project. |
