Oscommerce / ecommerce design & implementation

We have oscommerce installed on our server, it needs properly setting up, securing and linking to payment merchants etc and a quick (dont mind if its templated) spruce up to make it look half decent, basically brought to the point where we can add products to it and then its done.
Considering the software is free and we already have it installed and the patches are free and readily availiable (we just have no idea what to do with them) This is just to complete the fine tuning and play with the design.
