You have summed up the situation perfectly, almost need a database of =
skills so that co-op can work on projects, teleworking isn't a problem, =
finding the skilled reliable people is...

Subject: FN-FORUM Introduction

Hi all

I'm a freelance web designer just setting up shop. I've been a =
subscriber to the (what was) webmonster (now topica) webdesign list for =
about a year now and I've found it extremely useful on a technical =
level, but I really do welcome this chance to participate in a UK-based =
forum for freelancers as an opportunity to exchange ideas, share =
knowledge and make contact with others in the same field.

Re: winuser's initial post - I'm in the same boat - i.e. setting up as =
a new freelancer and casting around for my first commissions. I have a =
few projects in hand at the moment obtained through personal contacts =
and while working on these I'm looking at my marketing strategy - =
there's only so much work I can get through existing contacts, after =
all! I'd be interested to hear other freelancers' ideas on good (and not =
so good) ways to promote yourself when starting out in this business.=20

Also I'm hoping to make contact with UK freelancers with skills in =
e-commerce and database technologies to whom I could subcontract or pass =
on work. The more I learn, the more I realise that I can't possibly =
hope to know it all - my interest lies in front end (especially Flash) =
rather than back end stuff. There's plenty of work out there for us all =
and I'm a great believer in the power of networking!

Let's get this forum rolling.
