Re: FN-FORUM Introduction

Hi Everyone,

Good to see things getting started on the list. For those who are interested we launched on Sunday,
and there are just under 100 subscribers at the mo, so things are fairly cosy.

Andy Stowell and I started Freelancers.net in 1997 to confront just some of the issues that have
come up already, with varying degrees of success! Hopefully this list will grow into a useful
network where people can find work, partners, help, advice, and of course, freelancers.

For those of you thinking of biting the bullet and giving up your jobs, go for it! Freelancing is
great, the market is full of work, and there are plenty of agencies around who will ease you in and
hold your hand in the early days.

Going it completely alone can seem daunting, and you certainly end up doing a lot more than just
building websites - sales pitches and invoice chasing being the two biggest shocks that spring to
mind - but you can choose the degree to which you get involved, and a good base of reliable core
clients is surprisingly easy to establish if you want to be your own one-man web design business.
