Yes, to some extent anyway. I recently experienced this when I delivered
laid out copy for a newsletter (in PageMaker 6.5) on CDROM to a printer. I
prepared it on a PC. They use Macs. They just opened the files on their
Mac, made the film and plates and printed the job without checking. All the
character and line spacing was shot to pieces. What a mess.
All that said, it is not really a problem and easily remedied if you keep an
eye on what is happening when working across platforms.
