I could be wrong too, but except for the ADSL connection being an ethernet for
communications purposes, my understanding is that ADSL travels through your

Correct me if I am wrong but ASDL is a "shared" connection. You are on BT's
private network hence privacy rules do not apply. With ASDL the more of you
on one "pipe" the slower it can become. Pardon...
