RE: FN-FORUM charging???

date posted 7th March 2000 19:13

Hello!

I'd be happy to assist in providing further information for your research.
I am a creative rep and I handle both freelance/contract work as well as
permanent placement. It's wonderful to see the explosion of freelance
opportunities and the acceptance - however pathetic the pace - by employers.

BTW - so glad to be able to get the perspectives through this forum. I
thank all of you for sharing your information!

Is it usual for agencies to charge double? What part do they play in the
process once the contract has been signed?

Can this high percentage taken by agencies be regarded as an introduction
fee to the client or is it expected that all further work (to the client)
goes through the agency with them still to be taking their 50% cut?

I'm interested in these arrangements because I have to cover them in my
book.
