I know just where you're coming from! I got fed up with other organisations
messing me around on domains/emails etc so I paid dsvr 300 quid to get full
control of the whole process. I went the dsvr route because of others'
recommendations. Their documentation is very good, *and* their human help. I
got my first domain up and running very quickly, and I'm *not* a techie any
more.

You could take dsvr's free option; dsvr20 I think it is. OK, so you'll be
charged 25 quid for a .co.uk domain name instead of £7.50 but at least you
can try it out.
