Cheers John - and to think I've been a Desk Top Publisher for years. The
criticism I would give if I found that in another document ...
Have you (or a skilled proofreader) read your text through carefully. I
would guess not. For example, on the Gallery page, I noticed:
1) "The design mimics an amplifier, and includes a swtichable knob..."
Maybe "switchable".
2) A couple of paragraphs below, "Due to it's size (14 long chapters)..."
No, "its".
3) Down a couple more paragraphs (Go-Fun), "We achieved this buy..." No,
"by".
4) Further down (Single Cookbook), "appeal to the batchelor". Try
"bachelor".
Also, I tried downloading the cookbook, but as it took absolutely ages, I
gave up waiting and abandoned it.
The cookbook is just a sample, but I should have included the size of the
document. Yet again preaching but not practicing.
By the way Morgan, I had intended to target the tourist industry in the
South West - they have after all got the most potential for increasing their
market share via web sites. One of the large organisations I targeted was
these guys:
http://www.exmoorattractions.com/
who run loads of stuff in Exmoor. I explained that their site left a little
to be desired (in a nice way of course), and they said they knew, and they
were redesigning it at that moment. That was about six months ago ...
Now the site is functionally OK, but visually? That's another debate I guess
- anyone else feel that some of the best sites they've used look awful but
function brilliantly?
I think you could do worse than targeting tourism, but it might take a
little longer before they're willing to pay much (ironic thing is of course
that alot of the people who come to the South West are from areas where
everybody is using the web day-to-day - and they're willing to pay for
quality).
Rich O.
P.S. As you've probably guessed Damian, I'm across the water from you.
