I've found that uploading html files on each project which redirect to pages
you've done and perhaps a portfolio helps lot.

I did a quick free job the other day and since I have had a few enquires....
so I guess feedback helps.

Make sensible bids and people will judge you through the portfolio, etc.
You'll noticed that those people charging a little amount, especially for
web design give examples of their work like:

www.crapwebsite.geocities.com/withsound/largegraphics/minginbackgrounds/etc

lol..... at the end of the day they want someone with experience and a good
portfolio I guess. I'd probably get more work if mine was a bit bigger!

I thought the same about it and was almost giving up on it, but looks good
now....lol
