have you never seen a porn site?
anyway...
why do people think this is a "boring text vs. huge jazzy pictures" debate?

when i say i don't use much text, i obviously don't mean i use meaningless
graphics instead. And you can do an 8 frame animated gif banner in 12K so
don't give me that old "images take ages to download" chestnut. It just
needs the appliance of good maths and design, and soon the technology will
be different anyway. I used to think a 40MB hard drive was huge....

Portal sites are the favourite because that's what people go on the web to
do, because that's all HTML can handle. They think of a question or burning
news issue, then they go onto the net. So portals are the favourite. But
that will not remain the same for long, and HTML is nearly dead thank god.
Only the tedious "information" sites remain - and you'd be better off in a
good library.

In fact I think you'll find that those 200K jpegs on porn sites are probably
more popular than your precious portal column inches...

and why does every news story on a portal get boiled down to a headline and
a PICTURE for intstance....

Soon we'll all just be cybershagging each other in full motion video and you
know it :) Taking holidays like in Total Recall and watching all the 24hr
news-gore we can handle. No reading.

Reading? What's the point of that in a future where a computer can transmit
ideas into your brain wirelessly? Let's face it, we only invented writing
because we didn't have the digital camcorder back then.

:) pics rule
love from Mark.

PS if i could have "thought" this email it would have saved me 15
minutes.... every time....
