2 ways:
sql="SELECT TOP 1 * FROM tablename ORDER BY uniqueID DESC"
or if using recordset object:
rs.movelast

well if you've got a correctly written database with an AutoNumber ID then
you can use
Select * from table where id = (select MAX(ID) from table)
I think thats the write SQL... should be
