Ohh yes, been there, done that. If I have a bad gut feeling about someone I
usually either refuse outright to take on the job, or ask (in the quote) for
some of the invoice to be paid upfront.
It's tough out there that's for sure...And then there have been times when I
had a bad gut feeling but did the work anyway.
As long as you're not actually laying down money for these chaps by buying
kit or software, sometimes it pays to risk it.
Turning your bullshit-o-meter up to full is pretty important in this game.
The fact is though that we all have to make a few memorable mistakes.
And then, just when you're totally disenchanted with the whole business
there are those clients who are complete sweethearts and it makes it all
worthwhile again.
