One thing about PHP is that it still has the stigma of being a
cheap/hobby language.
Compare the amount of PHP jobs (and the money they pay) to the
amount of ASP jobs (and likewise) and you'll get an indication of
why ASP is in the lead commercially.
In fact, all the really good PHP programmers I know do Perl during
the day, because that's what they can get employed to do.
PHP is great though, I agree. Very nicely designed.
