help and advice
date posted 1st February 2001 17:27
Dear freelancers
I have been a member for a while and have enjoyed
reading the chat but have only till now lurked.
I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in June
last year with a Bsc in Multimedia Technology. I am
finding it very difficult to get a job in Web
development all the firms around seem to want at least
six months experience and are not willing to spend the
time or money to train people. I have spent the time
since graduating learning Flash and various other
programs and have had a few interviews but still no
luck.
I have put some adverts up in the local shops and on
this site for my services but have had little
response. Has anybody else been in this situation ?
what did you do ?. Should I build an HTML site for
www.m8media.com (done a Flash one) and try and get
freelance work. What is the best way to promote myself
without spending too much money.
I have found myself in the old chicken and egg
situation because I have had no real industry
experience. If anyone has a spare couple of minutes
could you check my site and give me some constructive
criticism and advice or does anyone have to much work
and needs to subcontract ;-).
Cheers in advance
Jeremy
