Hi Jeremy,

I'm genuinely surprised to hear that you're finding it difficult to get a
job in web development. What type of jobs are you going for? Development or
design jobs?

Are you still in Glasgow? I imagine half the battle with finding a job is
living in the right city, or within commuting distance of the right city.

Have you looked for jobs on www.jobserve.co.uk or on www.jobchannel.tv ?

It doesn't look as though you'd need all that much training - no more than
anyone else at any rate - so I would doubt if that were the reason you're
finding it difficult to find work.

Your web site looks fine. The background is a little viscious for my
tastes - dark coloured web sites don't tend to inspire confidence IMO... but
people in glass houses and all that ...you should see the viscious coloured
background on my web site ;-)

How's your interview technique? In all seriousness... these things can
really count. Are you relaxed, affable, friendly? Knocking back a couple of
shots of your favourite short just before the interview has been known to
help ;-)

Going self-employed is bloody tough going at first, so I reckon you'd
benefit from putting a year or so at someone else's company first... Saying
that, mind you, I didn't, but I did have to phase my publishing contracts
out and phase web design contracts in over a period of about 2 years.

Whatever you decide - all the best and good luck! I see no reason at all why
you wouldn't walk into any of a dozen jobs tomorrow, so don't give up.
