RE: FN-FORUM help and advice

Hmmmmm .....
As others have said, I would firstly make sure you have decided whether you
are a developer or a designer and then pitch yourself at that speciality.
If your gonna concentrate on developing, then definitely develop your html
site more to show what you can do. Flash isn't the best expression of your
code writing prowess ;o)
The design side of your existing sites, to be brutally honest, needs some
work. A lot of it is very 90's in appearance. Fickle I know, but so is the
web. Agencies are looking for design style that will take them forward,
rather than backward. Take a look at http://www.linkdup.com/ and
http://www.coolhomepages.com/ to get an idea of the current trends.
Incidentally, your flash site has no portfolio, which isn't a good start.
Try and find a local web design mailing list, or attend local networking
meetings like First Tuesday etc. Virtually all my contracts and full time
positions have come through people I have met within these. I personally
despise agencies and have never had a decent placement from any of them....
sods ....
I would personally recommend you find full time work before going freelance,
it's very hard work otherwise, especially financially. I've worked in many a
tavern to keep my bank account alive while I was starting out freelancing
;o)
Hope this helps. You've got a web designers name anyway, which is a good
start ;o)
