RE: FN-FORUM Database Opinion Question
date posted 1st March 2001 10:53
If you plan on using XML and XSL, SQL-Server and Oracle provide ways of
transferring data as pure XML without having to play around with recordsets
at all. I've never done it myself but I know some people who have and they
say it miles faster. Oracle is bar far the most stable database platform
but SQL-Server is almost a match and is cheaper and easier to code. Forget
Access if you can. Not sure about MySQL - I've never used it but people
seem to rave about it on Freelancers. The trouble is you usually get what
you pay for...
Cheers,
Pete

SELECT chain-gun FROM weapons-locker WHERE calibre EQUALS 50mm
(Ok, Ok, I admit it, I know nothing about SQL!)
Apart from that does anyone know whether Netcraft generate stats on what
technology is driving the backends of websites?
