RE: FN-FORUM Map based websites

Latest Mapinfo product is quite web oriented.... version 6 will certainly
generate image maps for ya from any data that can be geocoded (Post Code,
OS, etc).
I use it a lot to map new grants data off our database over census data and
other third party existing provision, which sounds similar to what you need.
It *is* microsoft tho' so it has some *ahem* features.... and may be
overkill for this project.
best mapping company has to be infotech. I use 'em for sourcing/translating
datasets, training, etc.. nice people www.infotech-europe.com
cheers

I have a potential web project that is basically a panel based layout
showing a map and the associated attractions. When the user clicks on a part
of the map a description of the attraction appears in one of the panels on
the right hand side. Navigation around England and Wales through these maps
would be required.
Does anyone have any experience of working on this type of project with a
client who have their own GIS system who want to superimpose on to a 3rd
party map.
Would it be best to use a 3rd party "web-map" company to provide the engine
behind the pages? Any comments will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Jeremy Bassett
