I've just submitted my site to the following search engines, all for free:
http://www.google.co.uk
http://www.lycos.co.uk
http://www.excite.co.uk
http://www.altavista.co.uk
Search engines charge for some extra listing services, but most offer a
basic submit for free. Otherwise they wouldn't be a seach engine, they
would just be a directory.
