Re: FN-FORUM DSVR or similar hosting company

easily.co.uk are about to launch hosting and email accounts; until now
they've focused on domain name registration. By their own admission the
rollout of their web hosting has been delayed in the final stages of
testing - this could be seen by some as negative but by way of
"compensation" they are offering two years hosting for the price of one
(plus an extra month). At £35 quid for 25 months hosting: 100mb space and
5gb data transfer they are certainly very cheap. I don't work for them, I'm
not on commission, and although their service is unproven I have signed up
myself (I've also registered a number of domains thru them in the past and
have never had any trouble with that). Their packages won't be right for
everyone (no multiple domains, for instance) but worth checking out...

We have also been burnt by fasthosts.
discovered to our cost that at the best of times they are far from fast,
huge amounts of downtime (several blackouts, some of which lastest days on
end!), email problems, mail forwarding problems, cack tech support (what
tech support!) to name but a few. very very poor.
strained relations between ourselves and several clients, huge amount of
emails from concerned e-commerce customers
I would striongly suggest you stear well clear

Hi David,
I have used Fasthosts for a long time now and although they have upgraded
their systems about a year ago they went down for the best part of a
week!!!! I lost a few valued clients because of this - there is another way
of looking at this in that once the mistake had been made 'hopefully' it
will not occur again. They have been ok for the past few months but at times
sites have not been available etc and there is currently an issue with
bandwidth and only being able to access their SMTP through their dailup -> I
am therefore weighing up my options.
If you want to try them feel free to drop me an email and I will set you up
a full account (I have reseller account) for you to test out.
Cheers,
Rog.

Why are you thinking of changing? Fasthosts have been strongly recommended
here in the past, and I am thinking of using them.
