RE: FN-FORUM Internic question

Hi Jeremy,
When you register your domain name, the company that you buy
the domain name from, specifies name server(s) which serve your domain.
For perfectaweb.net this is dns1.interland.net dns2.interland.net
[you can check the details using the program whois or goto www.allwhois.com
for an online equivalent]
Web browsers, smtp servers etc consult these name servers
for the "sub domains (2nd level domains, to use your terminology)"
- e.g. the www in www.perfectaweb.net
Talk to the poeple your bought your domain name from(interland.net).
They should only charge you a few pounds for setting up a new sub domain,
since it only takes a few minutes to do.
If you run your own name servers, its trivial to setup other sub domains.

Subject: FN-FORUM Internic question
My domain is perfectaweb.net - I know a little cheesy. If I want a web address of members.perfectaweb.net, how to I go about doing that. Can I do this myself through internic or do I need an ISP to do it. I keep seeing these 2nd level URLs and have always wondered how to get them. They do always seem to be large companies though.
Thanks
Jeremy Bassett
