As others have already said Print Screen. You can also get screen copying
software that allows you to take a shot of just a Window or a defined area.
Though generally if you have say 128mbs of Ram (or more) which is pretty
much the norm these days there is in my opinion no point in extraneous
screen capture software since you can deal with a whole screen shot just as
quickly as a detail and it's easier to edit and or crop stuff in Photoshop
or Paintshop Pro where you can see what you are doing.
Bear in mind though that a screen shot looks best if it is reduced in size
for print so you can achieve 240 to 300 dpi with high quality print. The
viewer should still be able to read the text (well I always can, but if I
needed glasses it would tend to be for distance)

a client has requested screenshots to be made of his website for printing
and laying out in his portfolio,
if i print from the browser, the background elements will not come out
i am working on windows
ideally i would like jpegs or similar so i can lay several screenshots out
together
can i do this???
