What I've found is that with a lot of modems the control panel =
volume
control doesn't work.
If it's external then it will usually have a volume control on it, =

it's internal then you are probably never going to get rid of it.
We've got a Compaq iPAQ, big weird blue thing I picked up in the US =

my wife [she thought it was cute], and I just can not get it to =
lower
the modem's volume.
