Real Player will do this to some degree and auto-install

You can use MPEG, but it is not wise to embed it into online applications.
You will also ony be able to do so using Active-X and that makes it
unavailable to Mac users. MPEG is brilliant for CD-ROM and other offline
applications. You can start messing around with the different Mpeg 4 codecs
that are around, but if you want your application to be customer-friendly
then you should consider Real Media

You are far better off using something like Real Player that uses rtsp
protocols for streaming and can accommodate net congestion far better than
any format that mearly downloads.
