RE: FN-FORUM Narrowband Britain

How do they get this figure of 1% of households? It's quite meaningless
without knowing what percentage of households actually have a computer or
one that is even capable of accessing the Internet. Mind I think I read
somewhere a couple of years ago, strangely enough, that computer ownership
is actually higher in Britain than anywhere else in the world, though, that
isn't to say the average computer is any better than a 486.
I would also think that in the UK the fact that there is a TV licence fee
ensures that the average population e.g. lower to middle income are slaves
of the box and the wall to wall endless inane rubbish it churns out. It's
human nature to get your moneys worth. Which is why the independent
television authority used to endorse the idea of the licence fee, what
better way of ensuring that people will actually watch their tellies and
absorb all the adverts and not engage in subversive activities like thinking
for themselves or making choices in the so called Free Market Place. Unless
of course on sees channel flicking as freedom of choice.
Oh well it's just one of these things that ensures that Britain will always
be an anachronistic society.
