Re: FN-FORUM Site Check / Comments.

cheers for the comments mate,

It's good here - very very busy.... Isle of Wight Cable are completely
useless and everything has been left in our hands....

as far as the progressive tables go, the site has been designed in a modular
format with ASP/XML to allow designers to 'plugin' areas of the
site....using SSI - all they need to do is create a table and inside the
- they can put and it will
pull in the info they requested....

the whole idea is that now that I've built it - I'm concentrating on further
development - not worrying about housekeeping... the code works and they
just plug into it - it was the major flaw with the Invaluable site when I
was there - all we ever did was housekeep and never got around to developing
the functionality further.

I hear what people are saying about the time delay in loading... I've looked
at it and it's something to do with the delivery of the I-Syndicate content
on the front page (the site loads quite fast without it)... this is a remote
tag that goes off and pulls in the free content... this is an
interim measure until the County Press get their act together to be able to
provide us with an XML feed for that front page.. people down here are so
laidback they're horizontal mate!

Things are generally ok though - we are in some serious discussions with
Isle of Wight Cable to take over and run their ISP services which is going
to be great for us - but it's still very much an option at the moment...so
fingers crossed.

As far as the portal goes - we have had some serious traffic to the site -
we've got a livestats service running on the logs, and the they are
currently reporting just under 6000 page impressions with 4000 unique
visitors for Yesterday alone! so we're confident that this is going to be a
good thing for the Island.

Anyway, catch up with ya later - if you're down on the island sometime
soon - give me a shout.

Rgds,

Carl.
