the whole IE/netscape thang:
i'm starting to see this along the lines of television - for example the
internet could be viewed as millions of channels with browsers being the
equivalent of tv's. can you imagine how tv companies would respond if they
had to tweak their programmes so to be compatible with 1 major type of tv
and several smaller types? they'd support the main tv producer and screw the
rest!
also:
when netscape had the monopoly in browser-dom, nobody whinged - however as
soon as M$ took the high ground every cyberhippy spod cried foul, followed
by more credible types since M$ are only interested in money, while
presumably netscape is actually run by the care bears working hard for A
Better Tomorrow and gives all its dosh to charity.
over the last few years its become almost fashionable to defend netscape in
much the same way most of britain appaluded eddie 'the eagle' edwards
bravely being crap at the winter olympics.
