I had much the same issue. With 4ks worth of stuff as well. All his
credentials checked out, stuff was shipped, payment revesered and then
nothing.. Couldnt get hold of him, his company or his references. Leaving
me saddled. Paypal couldnt have been less helpfull if they puton a less
helpfull hat.
Nochex seems to be a little better as I think they are uk based.

Paypal is great when it works, however when anything goes wrong you're
up shit creek without a paddle.
I used it for almost a year until five months ago when a payment from a
client was reversed after the goods were shipped and received. The
client denied reversing the payment so I looked to Paypal for
clarification. Their initial response was slow and consisted of e-mails
stating that completed payment could not be reversed even though this
was exactly what had happened. When I pressed the matter (we were at
e-mail No. 10 at this time) they just stopped responding...
They provide almost no contact details on their site and their general
customer service is of a deplorable level. Also do not expect to be
covered by any if their so-called "insurances" if you do not reside in
the US..
