RE: FN-FORUM High speed, reliable Internet connection

I've just been on the phone to Pipex. They have offered me connection
within 12 days.
Download speed 512, upload speed 256

Apparently connections are shared between 50 users at connection points,
but, you can move to other connection points if a point is busy (well,
something like that).

Costs are:
Connection £160 + VAT (one off charge)
£44.95 +VAT per month

How does this compare? Any other things I should be considering?

(Note: Their site specifies a PC platform is needed but apparently a Mac is
okay as well)
