Hey Rog,
You could try looking at the canon ixus/A and S models. They are about the
size of a gnats tackle and quite often metal bodied so pretty tough. Your
only problem may be the flash as from experience the smaller the camera the
shitter the pictures are when using flash (not very powerful, light fall
off, red eye is pretty much guaranteed). I guess it just dependes if this
will be OK for your uses.
