I've found UK2 to be right pain in the a**.

In the past clients have registered names with them on the off chance that
they might want a site sometime. When it comes to moving the domain away
from them and hosting the site somewhere else you have 2 options:

1. Pay them a monthly fee forever and they provide a 'Professional DNS
Management Service'.

2. Pay them £25, get the domain owner to fax a form to them saying what they
want to change it to, then enter the exact time (to the nearest 5 mins) that
your client sent the fax (you can only get the form to fax from here, I
can't remember exactly but it proved to be a real pain), then you can wait
up to a week before you see any changes !!!

Anyway, enough ranting, the cheapest place I know is 132reg.co.uk
(http://www.123reg.co.uk) about 6 squid for a .uk (2 years), 10 for dot com
(1-10 years).
