John

Thanks for the comprehensive site review - I agree with the majority of your
comments. However the clients have complete say on the content text and will
not be swayed.

Cheers

Iain

| Iain
| I liked the colour and balance of your Theatre Royal site. However, in my
| quick browse I found the following:
|
| 1 Consistency: [Information] "The Theatre Royal website has been
| designed...", but in a later paragraph "The web site provides a range of
| options..."
|
| 2 [Technical Information] "...For further details contact the people
listed
| below.", but two of the 'people' are a pay phone and a fax machine! I
| suggest rewording: "For further details contact one of the following:" or
| simply "For further details contact:"
|
| 3 [History] "and it is now one of the only three buildings that can give
us
| the experience of theatre-going in pre-Victorian Britain." May I suggest
a
| tiny amendment: "and it is now one of the three remaining buildings that
can
| give us the experience of theatre-going in pre-Victorian Britain." or "and
| it is now one of the last three buildings that can give us the experience
of
| theatre-going in pre-Victorian Britain." Are the other buildings theatres?
| If so, why not say "theatres", rather than "buildings"? Also, assuming
that
| the others are still in use, why not say "...one of the last three [or
three
| remaining] theatres still in use that can..."?
|
| 4 [Friends] On this page you refer a few times to "the Theatre Royal",
which
| agrees with the logo at the top left of the site (ie no definite article
in
| name). Yet, elsewhere you speak of "The Theatre Royal", even though the
logo
| says just "Theatre Royal".
|
| 5 [Contact us] When this item is clicked, "Contact Us" (ie with a capital
| "U") appears on the left of the banner. Also "Contact Us", not "Contact
us"
| appears in the Information item.
|
| 6 [Contact us] I found this confusing. When I clicked it, I appeared to
get
| a blank space with graphics. What is supposed to happen?
|
| 7 Box Office - consistency: "Wheelchair seats - Grand Circle Box seats
16/17
| & 20-22" The "16/17" presumably means "16 to 17", so I suggest you change
| the slash to a hyphen. Also "Signal from the induction loop can be
recieved
| from every seat in the auditorium." I suggest (a) "The signal from...",
and
| (b) "received", not "recieved"
|
| 8 Finally, I found myself wanting to see this theatre, but there are few
| pictures that give any impression of how it looks (inside as well as out).
| What about a picture gallery of the front, the stage, the auditorium, and
| any other architectural gems?
|
| Hope these points (and there may be others) help.
|
| John

|
| | Fine on ie6, Win2k sp2, crap PC (P200 64Mb), 800x600 16 bit colour. BUT
| the
| | back links are so pale they are almost invisible.
