This is the way I see it too - I have in the past assembled a 'collective'
of talents to bid for a couple of projects. Neither of them came to anything
at the time, but nothing ventured... There is a great pool of talent here,
with a variety of skills, but we are not always available for everything,
due to varying workloads. As such it would seem sensible to have a
'database' of skillsets, putting together a team on a per project basis.
But again we will have logistical difficulties of compiling, maintaining and
updating that list, then co-ordinating the team building and project
application - who will do that when there is no guarantee of landing the job
and recouping some money?

I don't see how we could bid for a project as a 'collective' then start
slapping individual invoices in to the client - that would be both an
organisational and PR disaster! I'm happy to be involved, as ever, but I see
this going the same way as previous efforts, unless someone has the time and
money to back it up until the first contract is won. From then on it could
be an ongoing and self financing effort - until then, I see that we will
each put out to tender work that we need help on (or cannot ourselves do) in
much the same ad hoc way as has happened in the last few years. Proove me
wrong, someone ;-)
