Re: FN-FORUM Frightening or what?

I have run into similar issues with designing websites for the adult
market. Lots of people think they can do better, cheaper and use stock or
free pictures and the punters will keep coming back. This just isn't
true....if the adult site doesn't have new pictures updated on a regular
basis or something to draw the customer back again and again, it is a waste
of time to put it together. Free pictures have their place....gallery sites
and doorways to the main content usually.
I suppose the advantage I have is that most people are not interested in the
adult business market and so the clients I deal with tend to be
well-educated in terms of what they want and what they are prepared to pay
for a good site because they know it will produce revenues. The few that
have tried it on their own seem to get lost in the maze of hosts who will
and won't accept adult material and have no clue how to deal with Adult
Verification Service matters. So eventually, they come back to me and ask
me to clean up the mess. I have, in quite a few cases lately, refused to do
so. I have plenty of work to keep me happy for the moment.
Licensed/leased content can cost a packet and people who have done their
homework know this. I have a few clients who obtain the content and then
forward it to me instead of my obtaining content on their behalf. Makes my
job a whole lot easier..... and since I can only work on this stuff 4 days
out of 7, it is a great shortcut. (I have a teenage stepdaughter who comes
into the house 3 days out of 7 and no remotely pornographic work is done
while she is here. Pictures are kept in a secure area of the server that
she cannot access.)
Those people who have thought they could convince me to do a site on
speculation, receiving payment for my work when they make a certain level of
monthly income have been laughed at until I hurt, told to piss off and hung
up on. (I have an attitude when it comes to this....and most of my regular
clients know this....but they keep coming back :-D)
