Re: FN-FORUM page breaks
date posted 6th July 2002 22:30
I am using a PC and the layouts are wrong. Nothing to do with Macs.
BTW The PDF is set to print on letter size paper instead of A4 (which
doesn't matter as long as the user has the right scaling options set) and
most of the page breaks are in odd places.
In the Word doc (and rtf), the first page break comes after the blank line
after
Interim Marketing Director - Quantum Gas ('02) .
This has to do with printers and font substitution. If you used Arial and
Times New Roman, you might be OK as most machines have it. Otherwise you
must use very common fonts and put page breaks, keep with etc in styles (and
definitely no blank paras) if you want to force logical blocks and breaks.
There are stray tabs all over the place and nothing lines up. Basically, it
is a badly structured document--good thing the guy isn't applying for a
clerical job!
The bullets are all Greek rho characters (Word numbering is notoriously
buggy, so it's better to use a symbol and manual hanging indents if the
document is going to be distributed, or at least to use a common font)
