As far as I am aware MIRC is freeware. I might be wrong. I have used it for
a while (more than 30 days) and had no problems. http://www.mirc.com/
There are lots more Freeware IRC clients around....

Usually this is caused by a missing bracket or {} pair.
Check your statements *very* carefully.

It maybe that the ip address lease is expiring. If you are using W2k or XP try this from a dos prompt "ipconfig /renew" to get a new ip address from the network. Even if the ip address hasn't expired...

The popups are slightly wider (just a few pixels) and much taller than my
800x600 screen (off the bottom of the screen) --don't forget the task bar
