RE: FN-FORUM blue hue
date posted 29th July 2002 10:25
Not all of the pins need to be there, so having a pin missing isn't
neccessarily a bad thing.
I think that the magnetic interference sounds far more likely a cause of
your problems, especially since you mentioned that the hue changes as you
move the monitor. Note that interference can come from other monitors,
AC-DC Adapters (like mobile phone chargers), Laser printers (if not properly
shielded), other PC's, mains wiring (if badly done) and potentially any
other electric equipment.
If you want to be sure, move the PC and the monitor to another part of the
room, or another room and see if you still get the same effect.
Hope that helps?
Julian

Kathy, just looked at the connection and there is a pin missing on the
connector
to the pc. Not sure whether it is supposed to be, my other monitor
connections
do not have any pins missing but are of a different type ie not fixed to
the
monitor end. I would have thought that there shouldn't be any pins
missing and
15 is standard.
the mystery is, where did the pin go!! There isnt a pin in the hole and
I have
just checked with another monitor and its fine. Problem is (if this is
the
problem) I can't just replace the monitor cable without opening the back
of the
monitor, unless someone knows what the plan from here is??

Check the connector to the monitor, then. Pin may be bent or not quite
in
contact. What other equipment is nearby?
