Thanks for the input guys, I've had some really valuable comments! I can see

The easiest thing to do is assign the IPCop machine as the gateway machine
and then use your ISP's DNS servers as the DNS servers for each machine in
the network.

Anthony - the whole point was there was no TOOLS menu option - or any other.
For future ref deleting the toolbar registry key brought everything back to
normal when Word was re-launched.
