Fw: Flash MX Q? on cd

Hi all,

Anyone know how to launch an external file from within a flash
standalone player (.exe) running on a cd-rom?

The external files include .doc .pdf and .pps (powerpoint show)

or should I use Director?

Only needs to run on a pc, although mac as well is desirable.
