RE: FN-FORUM Satellite Broadband
date posted 3rd September 2002 16:05
I have had the Aramiska system running for the last few days and have found
it to work very well, no loss of service that I've noticed. On the
Business-Insight scheme we weren't given an option, then again it is
completely free. I have found that downloading is easily 10x faster than my
isdn. What I'm saving on my office isdn, home highway and BT anytime
services will pay for the second year's subscription. I have decided to
ditch home highway and play with the kids and talk to my wife on a night.
We'll never get anything better round these parts for a very long time so
I'm pleased to have it.
Stuart.

OK. Just got a letter of acceptance for the Remote Area Broadband
Inclusion Trial and I know a few other peeps here have signed up/already
got it installed too. I opted for BT on the basis that Amariska cap
bandwidth at 1Ghz or 2Ghz depending on which of their cheapest packages
you sign up for. So what's the general view on the service? Is it good?
Is it really worth five times as much as a DSL line? Should I sign on
the dotted line or hang onto my ISDN line,
Hutch
