I wouldn't hold out much hope - usually IPR defaults to the author (IE
- them) unless it was in the contract (doesn't sound like that was the
case).
It can be quite a vague area of law though - might be trying to get a
bit of advice from a commercial solicitor that specialises in that
specific area of law (try Eversheds).
