Well, I suppose if you're talking about outside influences doing bad things
to your computer, then you're right, having no colour or font set on your
site is a bad thing.
When you say 'styling' in relation to the background colour, are you talking
about CSS or Body bgcolor=?

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but that's not what I was saying.
I'm saying that there are a lot of people out there who don't have a
clue how to set the colours on their browser. And I'm damn near certain
that none of those would have a clue how to set up a user stylesheet.
What I was trying to get across is that if these people's browsers have
been setup with god-awful colours thanks to some ISPs setup scripts, or
a spyware app of some sort has fouled things up, producing an unstyled
page may result in a horrible looking - or inaccessible site (you've
specified background-color:white; but didn't specify a font color - not
able to see anything if their browser is set to white text). If you put
basic styling in there, including color and background-color, everybody
will have the opportunity of seing a well laid out and (hopefully)
aesthetically pleaseing site.
Then if there are people who wish to change the look, for whatever
reason, they can find out how to use user stylesheets to override the
settings. As a perfect example of this, Kathy has just said that she's
going to use !important to set the scroll bar colours.
Hope this clears things up.
Darran.
