Could it be that one of the keys on the keyboard is a bit 'sticky'
I've seen this sort of problem before (though not this exact problem) when
either the Ctrl key or Alt key have a tendency to stick....

p.s. you can posterize the clip by using the VIDEO>ADJUST>POSTERIZE
effect. just drag it onto the clip as you did the b&w effect, you can
then change the effect settings by using the EFFECT CONTROLS...

(You can hold down the LEFT-ALT in v6 while dragging on the position bar
to preview with effects - this isn't in realtime.

remember its right click on the section you want black and white, there
should be a filters (or effects) menu option, then add...

As an alternative, have you considered using something like PCAnywhere, VNC
(free) or RDC (http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/rdc/), where you can
control your PC from the Mac?

I have used PCMaclan in the past with great success, until SFM (see below)
arrived. IIRC, you need a licence for each PC. Have a look at the following
website for other software options, none of them...
