The _01 business is merely the number of the slice. You can change those settings by clicking 'Custom' on the drop-down at the bottom of the 'Save for Web' window where it says 'Default Settings' Hut...

Get Fireworks - right click on slice and click "export slice" I don't get all the fuss about the bloatware that is Photoshop - Fireworks on PC and Gimp on linux does the job for me. My 2p regards...
