perhaps, but what about someone in a rural area on a minimum wage who has to
spend an absolute fortune to get to/from work and can't afford a house
because some one who has sold a ludicrously over valued house in a city has
just pushed market rates well beyond hope.

I didn't intend to say that you felt that way, just that that is a view of
many people who don't bother to stop, think and find out; a little like the
talk of rich farmers, rich southerners and honest agents (sorry bout the
last one, I know a few, but its a dig that is hard to resist :) ).
I'm sorry that I didn't spend more time clarifying the point.

Well, I know of hunts that don't act so barbarically. You saw 'as far as i
am aware', which implies that perhaps you don't actually know of any
directly. I don know of some where this is not the case and I also know of
others that will almost certainly act in the manner you describe.

There are problems everywhere. If the city was so great, I wouldn't be
trying so hard to get away from it; (though that said, it is mostly the
attitudes of people that cause the problems). But let it be said that many
of a city's inhabitants wouldn't ever consider going into the country and
are the cause of many of their own problems. While I know it is likely to
cause a storm in itself, but could it not be interesting to look at the view
that it is the inhabitants of cities (in the form of large
corporations/organisations) that are making the rural life harder by
absorbing smaller businesses or making them uneconomic, and then shutting
them down because they are not profitable in a large corporate view? While a
small shop may have been enough for a family to live on, it is not enough
for all the management and a couple of staff, so of course they get shut.
Or South Wales, which is also South, or rural areas near London etc. Anyway,
aren't all those northeners miserable, grey individuals who will all die
early because they only eat pie and chips???
(again :) )
The main thing is that most people are only concerned with their immediate
environment and too lazy to look at other areas and ways of living or
thinking. This is the kind of attitude that keeps bad politicians, arms
dealers and undertakers in business. I just wish people would be more
willing to open their eyes and their minds rather than just acting as
'echos' to their peers or the media which is where much of the (often ill
informed) attitudes and social stereotyping come from.
