I've recently worked with a search optimiser for the first time. Most
interesting experience.

I guess that some of the hard IT skills are coming back in to vogue again -
scaling, site optimisation, behind the scenes processing and procedural
code, proper OO design and such. Web sites are becoming proper
applications programs rather than just pretty pictures.

Slightly different in my case, I started selling search engine optimisation
services as an add on, people take note when you have clients who say your
websites have gained them x thousand pounds of new business in the last
year.
